ACCIAIO 11 is a project by Marco Bruzzone, made with the support of Artssima Lido, CRIPTA747, pasta-laboratory Le Tre Uova and the help of Barilla Historical Archive and Fiat Historical Archive.

It´s a consideration about the radical change of rythms and habits that workers had encountered during the passage from rural life to working in city factories. Pasta is architecture for the mouth, a skeleton of a building than can be covered with different materials (vegetables, meat, fish) and become those very materials, as Kubelka wrote on his brilliant introduction to Pastario, un atlante delle paste (Alessi, 1985). Pasta is a particularly modern structure, even if its history anticipates the industrial revolution. maybe the need for human beings to produce such a food, had inspired them to invent machines such roll benders and extruders.

Industrial machines to produce all kind of pasta have been very helpful to satisfy the food requirement of a growing population.

The workers´ meal was not anymore a chaotic food made of elaborate shapes, produced by human hands, but made of linear shapes that might remind of a constructivist painting, serially produced shapes made by machineries started by unknown people.

ACCIAO 11 is the exasperation of this concept, it´s a pasta shaped like an i-beam.

ACCIAIO 11 é un progetto di Marco Bruzzone, realizzato con il supporto di Artssima Lido, CRIPTA747, pastificio Le Tre Uova e l´aiuto dell´Archivio Storico Barilla e l`Archivio Storico Fiat.

Parte da una riflessione sul cambiamento radicale di ritmi e abitudini dei lavoratori durante il passaggio da una vita rurale al lavoro nelle fabbriche in cittá. La pasta é come una architettura per la bocca, come lo scheletro di un edificio che puó venir ricoperto con materiali diversi (verdure, carne, pesce) e diventare quei materiali, come scrive kubelka nella sua geniale introduzione del pastario, un atlante delle paste prodotto da alessi nel 1985. La pasta é una struttura prettamente moderna, anche se la sua storia precede la rivoluzione industriale. Forse la necessitá di produrre un alimento del genere ha anche ispirato macchinari come laminatori ed estrusori.

Le macchine industriali per la produzione di paste di ogni genere é stata di grande aiuto nel soddisfare un fabbisogno alimentare per una popolazione in crescita.

Il pasto dei lavoratori non é piú un cibo dalle forme caotiche e complesse, prodotto da un essere umano, ma é fatto di forme lineari che possono ricordare un quadro costruttivista, forme prodotte in serie da macchinari azionate da sconosciuti.

ACCIAIO 11 é un´esasperazione di questo concetto, è un tipo di pasta a forma di trave con profilo "H".
